Trio charged with methamphetamine production
Three individuals face methamphetamine production charges following their Tuesday morning arrest by Cocke County authorities. Deputies Timothy Snapp and Chris Barnes responded to an address on Industrial Road just before 7 am to investigate an auto which had been parked in a driveway. At the scene, the female driver, Brandy Hickman, 28, Smithville, TN., and her two passengers, Clyde M. Martin, II, 34, Old Newport Highway, Sevierville and Audie R. Perkins, Jr., 38, Driskill Circle, Newport were asleep. When the deputies tapped on the front window, Martin "went crazy, was screaming and punching and kicking the front windshield," the officers said. As a result all three occupants were removed from the auto and handcuffed. Investigators determined the 2001 Ford Taurus had been reported stolen from Ricky Green, Jr, of Sevierville on March 15. And inside the residence and auto were the ingredients and materials necessary for the production of methamphetamine. They included a fuel additive, a battery cut open, ammonia and lye drain opener. All three occupants now are charged with initiation of a process to result in the manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hickman is charged also with theft over $1,000, misuse of vehicle registration, and possession of burglary tools.
