Ramsey sues Cocke County
Cocke County has been named the defendant in a Cocke County Circuit Court lawsuit, stemming from an April 21, 2016 collision on the Cosby Road in Newport. Robert David Livingston, 54, Persimmon Way, Cosby, was operating a 2006 Ford van owned by the county and used by the litter crew to pick up trash, when he allegedly ran a red light and struck an auto operated by Roger Ramsey, 67, Neddy Mountain Road, Del Rio. The crash occurred at the Hedrick Drive intersection, and sent Ramsey to the Newport Medical Center for treatment. The action filed by Attorney P. Richard Talley demands damages totaling $140,000 for Ramsey and his wife Phyllis. Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes and County Attorney Carter Moore declined to comment on the lawsuit.
