Dump sites are being eradicated The Cocke County RID(Remove Illegal Dumpsites) Committee meeting Friday was told a large number of illegal dump sites have been cleaned up since the group was formed in 2001. David Veridal, who is the volunteer supervisor for the project which utilizes jail inmates, said a total of 232 dump sites have been cleaned up. And he said an additional 17 sites have been identified but are awaiting cleanup. Keep Cocke County Beautiful was told a cleanup of the Pigeon River at Hartford is planned for June 4, and volunteers are needed.
