Girl bitten by groundhog
A Parrottsville girl required medical treatment on Saturday after she was bitten by a groundhog. Rowan Saltonstall, who's age is not provided, Trentham Hollow Road, told Cocke County officers that she was outside her home at 1:15 pm, when she observed a groundhog behaving strangely. She said the animal was falling, stopping and it then approached her and her dog. The dog approached the groundhog despite efforts on the part of Saltonstall to restrain it. She then grabbed the groundhog to get it away from the dog, and was bitten on the finger. The girl was later treated at the Newport Medical Center.
