Food and housing grant for Cocke County Cocke County Mayor Crystal Ottinger has announced that the County will receive a grant of $17,752 from the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. The grant is to assist in the expansion of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country. A local board will recommend agencies to receive the funding. Eligible recipient organizations must be private voluntary nonprofits or government agencies, be eligible to receive government funding, have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, have demonstrated a capacity to distribute emergency food and/or shelter programs, and have a voluntary board. Qualifying agencies are encouraged to apply by July 10 by contacting Pam Lowe, Cocke County Mayor's Office, Courthouse Annex, Newport, TN., 423-623-8791.
