Credit score and insurance premiums
Everyone knows you need auto insurance to drive in Tennessee. We also know that our credit scores dictate the types of credit cards and loans we can get. But did you know that your credit score plays a part in the amount of the car insurance premium you pay? WalletHub, a personal finance website, set out to see just how much credit data affects the cost of insurance policies. The researchers found that people with no credit, on average, pay 65% more for car insurance than people with excellent credit. Car insurance premiums in Tennessee can fluctuate by 85%, based on credit score. The five major auto insurance companies use credit data in 90% of the states in which they operate.
