Inmates charged in jail assault
Three inmates in the Cocke County Jail have been charged with aggravated assault in connection with a Sunday evening assault. Corrections Officer Sgt. Zachary Magouirk said the three inmates were observed on video surveillance assaulting inmate Kevin Hill at 7:52 pm. The victim was struck by inmate Ezekiel Thompson, 25, Strawberry Way, Newport, on the face and head numerous times till he fell to the floor. Hill then was allegedly punched and kicked on the head as he lay on the floor of his cell. The additionally charged inmates are identified as; Dustin Davis, 29, Keener Road, Cosby and Caleb Spier, 20, Robert E Lee Drive, Newport. Hill sustained cuts and bruises to his face as well as an injured right hand. Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes said Hill was flown to the UT Medical Center for treatment of facial injuries following the attack.
