Odell fire
Cocke County authorities are investigating a home burglary and fire which Tuesday evening destroyed a home on Prarie Way, Newport. Deputy Wes Keys said the home was owned by Randall Odell of Dandridge. Cocke County firefighters told Deputy Keys the home was fully involved when they arrived on the scene at 9 pm. The officer said he did not see any evidence of suspicious activity when he walked around the property. Odell reported that another building on the property was destroyed by fire on July 18. Odell said he had two Volkswagen motors along with various Dodge vehicle parts in the basement. After the fire, the owner said he discovered that the auto parts valued at $2,500 were missing. Cocke County Interim Fire Chief Keith Large said a garage on the property burned last week and the home was damaged by fire at that time.
