Munsey sentenced
A Cocke County man has been sentenced to a lengthy federal prison term in connection with a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in East Tennessee. Ricky Dale Munsey, 48, of Del Rio, was sentenced by the Judge Leon Jordan, to serve 262 months in federal prison. He was facing a life sentence before he agreed to testify against his Mexican cartel supplier. According to the plea agreement on file with the U.S. District Court, Munsey admitted that he was responsible for at least 4.5 kilos of actual methamphetamine. Law enforcement agencies participating in the investigation included the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office, Morristown Police Department and Third and Fourth District Judicial Drug Task Forces. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Wayne Taylor. The investigation was a result of the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program, which is the centerpiece of the Department of Justice’s drug supply reduction strategy.
