Knob Creek Road barn destroyed by fire
A large, older barn on Knob Creek Road in the Bybee community of Cocke County was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning. Katrina Hager, a firefighter with the Centerview Volunteer Fire Department, said the 4 am alarm sent firefighters to the barn owned by Mike Padgett who resides in New York. Firemen found the large structure was engulfed in flames. She said the five engines pumped more than 7,000 gallons of water on the blaze. Cocke County firefighters also shuttled water to the fire. The cause of the blaze and the dollar loss, have not been determined.
