Stevenson pursuit
A Parrottsville man was jailed Tuesday on charges stemming from a theft and subsequent pursuit by Newport authorities. Shawn Dale Stevenson, 46, Trentham Hollow Raod, was allegedly captured on video with a co-defendant, taking items from the Newport Walmart store. A short time later Newport Detective Captain Jason Ramsey spotted Stevenson on North Street and attempted a traffic stop. But the suspect fled north, then onto Highway 160 into Bybee, at speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour. Stevenson was eventually stopped on Palmer Hollow Road at noon. In addition to the original charge of conspiracy to commit theft, he now is charged with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, driving on a revoked license, improper display of registration and no insurance. The co-defendant in the $96.00 theft, Katlyn Daskiewicz, 23, was cited into court on a theft charge.
