Cocke County auction
A 311 acre parcel on Clear Creek Road in Cocke County was sold during an on-line auction on Tuesday. The acreage was owned by Anthony Stokley, other members of the Stokley family and members of the Shults family of Newport. Scott McCarter of McCarter Auction said a total of 37 bidders were registered including 17 out-of-state residents. Bids came from as far away as Colorado and Iowa. McCarter said a local resident purchased the acreage for $223,300, however he declined to release the identity of the buyer.
