National Energy Awareness This is National Energy Awareness Month! Nearly 250 U.S.cities have pledged to uphold the Paris Climate Accord and so the personal-finance website WalletHub conducted an analysis of 2017’s Most & Least Energy-Efficient States. To gauge the financial impact of doing more with less energy — the average American household spends at least $2,000 per year on utilities and another $1,900 on motor fuel and oil — WalletHub’s analysts compared the auto- and home-energy efficiency in U.S. states. Due to data limitations, Alaska and Hawaii were excluded from the analysis. The researchers found that Tennessee ranks 47th in Home Energy Efficiency, 12th in Vehicle-Fuel Efficiency and 37th in Transportation Efficiency.
