James arrest
A Cocke County man was jailed this morning after he allegedly assaulted his sleeping wife and then smashed into a nearby mobile home as he fled. Kara Lundy James, Carson Springs Road, Newport told Cocke County Deputy Wes Keys, that her husband, Clancy James, 234, came home and as she slept, began accusing her of cheating on him. Clancy took away his wife's phone, and prevented her from leaving. The victim then was pushed down on the couch and choked. As Mrs. James tried to kick her husband away, he bit her.. And then the defendant tore a door from its hinges and threw it at her. As Clancy James drove away in his wife's vehicle, he hit a doublewide mobile home down the street, damaging the underpinning and the tearing down the satellite dish. Newport police arrested the subject at 1:30 am following a traffic stop, and jailed him on charges of Aggravated Domestic Assault and Vandalism. Deputy Keys said Mrs. James sustained bruises to her neck and arm in the incident.
