Cocke County accepts proposals
The Cocke County Partnership has released information on two recently received grants. The first, from the State of Tennessee Economic and Community Development department, is in the amount of $50,000. A development and marketing plan for Hartford as well as a lighting project for Downtown Newport are included in the grant. Funding for the second project, of $25,000, through the state’s Three Star program is to be used for the development of a multi-use trails plan for the entire county. The Partnership received proposals from three firms interested in developing plans with the grants. “The group we chose has the most overall ability to analyze the projects and work on them simultaneously. We are happy to announce that we have chosen CRJA-IBI Group to do the work,” said Partnership President Lucas Graham. The focus of the initial grant will be to develop Hartford and develop a marketing action plan that may include website enhancement, social media advertisement and potential billboards ads. The second project will help make Downtown more visually appealing and increase pedestrian lighting. “The development and marketing of Hartford is crucial for our tourism businesses,” said Tourism Director Linda Lewanski. ”Our rafting outfitters bring a substantial amount of revenue to the County and we want to assist them in any way we can.” Both projects have a completion date of April 30, 2018. CRJA-IBI Group is an award-winning planning and landscape architectural design firm with offices in Knoxville and Boston. It's 45-person studio serves national and international clients.
