Another flu death in Tennessee
Tennessee Health officials are continuing to urge residents to get their flu shot. They say a pregnant woman has died of the flu in the Volunteer State. Bill Christian, spokesman for the Department of Health, says the agency learned of the woman’s death on Monday. It brings the total to four deaths during the current flu season. Last week, officials announced that three children have died due to the virus. Christian said children and pregnant women are among those at higher risk due to the flu, along with people over the age of 63. Flu activity is now widespread across Tennessee , and everyone over the age of six months is urged to get one now, he said. “Our county health departments are providing flu vaccines at no charge to patients, and flu shots are widely available from a number of other health care providers including primary care providers and pharmacies,” Christian said.
