A Cocke County woman was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville after she lost control of her vehicle Wednesday evening. Cocke County Deputy Josh Hall said the 10:38 pm crash occurred on Joe Reed Road in the Bybee community. Teresa Shelton, 65, Fowlers Grove Road, Newport lost control of her 1999 Nissan, which left the roadway. Deputy Hall said the vehicle may have rolled before coming to rest in a deep ditch. Ms. Shelton was trapped and had to be freed by personnel with the Cocke County Fire Department and Newport Rescue Squad. First Call EMS transported the injured driver to the Bybee Post Office and from there she was flown to the Knoxville facility.
