Jones arrest
A man at the Cocke County courthouse on Monday fled from officers as he was taken into custody on a probation violation. Jaylee Larry Jones, 24, Wiley Town Road, Newport pulled away from Bailiff Benjamin Walker as he was informed he was under arrest. As he fled, Jones ran into another visitor to the courthouse Angela Hurst, Fairfax Road, Parrottsville. The subject ran from the courthouse but was located by Sheriff Armando Fontes, hiding in a large trash can behind the Mims Assisted Living complex. As he was removed from the can, Jones allegedly resisted and appeared to reach for a knife in his possession. He was subdued and handcuffed by the Sheriff and Bailiff Walker. At the jail, Jones was found to have methamphetamine and a needle in his sock, and a knife in his waistband. When he continued to resist, Jones was placed in a restraint chair to control his behavior. He now faces charges of evading arrest, resisting arrest, assault, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in addition to the probation violation.
