Arwood/Prevost arrests Two Newport residents Tuesday were taken into custody on outstanding warrants charging them with aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, conspiracy and theft. Brian Arwood, 39, and Jasmine Prevost, 25, both recently of Filbert Street, were arrested by Patrol Officer Mike Robey in connection with the February 11th. incident involving Thomas Edwards. Edwards was taken to the Newport Medical Center after he was attacked with a large hunting knife, and knocked to the floor after going to a party "basically to do drugs", he told police. After being assaulted, Edwards said he gave the couple his money which they had demanded. After that the victim says he was thrown out of the home with his wallet and cell phone. Arwood and Prevost were stopped on Tuesday after they were observed leaving a known drug house on Sixth Street in Newport. The couple was in possession of 5.1 ounces of methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia. As Newport Captain Terry Lawson escorted Atwood into the jail he attempted to run away and had to be tackled to the ground. Now both subjects are charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and Atwood is charged with resisting arrest.
