Ronnie Davis obit Former State Representative Ronnie Davis of Newport died Wednesday at his home at the age of 73. Davis, a Republican, represented the Eleventh District from 1984 till 2002. He was defeated in 2002 by Democrat Eddie Yokley after after Davis was indicted on federal fraud charges. Davis also for years was head of vocational education at the Ben Hooper Vocational School at the Cocke County High School. He was preceded in death by Herbert Davis (father), Margaret Sawyer Davis (mother), Joe Davis (brother). Davis is survived by Barbara Nease Davis (wife), Tracy and Ron Eschelbacher of Cookeville (daughter and son-in-law), Brent Davis of Cookeville (son), Hayden and Haley Eschelbacher (grandchildren), brother Wayne Davis of Russellville (wife Betty), sister Carolyn Cook of Ft. Worth, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned for Saturday 17th at Newport First United Methodist Church. Receiving of friends will be 11 am to 1 pm immediately followed by the memorial service. All friends, family, and community are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please donate to FUMC or Glendale Methodist Church. The Brown Funeral Home of Newport is handling the arrangements.
