Spencer Grooms is being sought
At last report Cocke County authorities were looking for Spencer Grooms, 27, Keener Road, Cosby in connection with a Friday domestic incident. Deputy Lt. Michael Whitmer said he responded to the residence of Brittany Lynn Reese, Needmore Road, Bybee, following reports that there was a domestic altercation at the home. Upon arrival the officer found the door standing open and the TV was on, but the residence was unoccupied. A short time later officers received information that Ms. Reese was in Newport with Grooms against her will. The woman's maroon KIA Optima was located at a convenience store on West Broadway, and she was inside. According to the victim she was at home when Grooms walked in through an unlocked door. Grooms yelled asking who was in the home, and he then went through the home, took her keys and phone. "I fought with him and he dragged me out to the car with no pants or shoes on, and made me drive him through Bybee," Reese said in a written statement. After arriving at the convenience store, Grooms fled with Reeses' phone charger. The woman said she had a .25 automatic handgun at her home, and in the car Grooms told her he had found the gun and had it. "He threatened to kill her if she did not do as he said and she was in fear because she said he was "psycho", Officer Whitmer said in his report. Grooms and Reese have had on-going domestic issues for several years. Warrants have been issued for Grooms charging him with Aggravated Domestic Assault, Adult Kidnapping and Aggravated Burglary. Officers say the suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous.
