Emergency Food and Shelter grants Cocke County has been awarded $18,226, under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. Mayor Crystal Ottinger a local Emergency Food and ShelterBoard will determine how the funds are to be distributed among emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in the area. The local board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under the program. Under the grant, local agencies to be eligible must; be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, have demonstrated the ability to distribute food or provide shelter and have a volunteer board. Organizations interested in providing such services should contact the mayor's office in the Cocke County Courthouse Annex or call 423-623-8791. The deadline for submission of an application is 4 pm on April 30.
