KCCB to recognize beautification
Keep Cocke County Beautiful(KCCB) is re-instituting a program to recognize residents in Newport and in Cocke County who beautify their properties. The organization is seeking nominations for the Eva Babe Sexton Beautification award in Newport, and the Polly Ottinger Beautification Award in Cocke County. Properties will be recognized monthly. In addition, 85-gallon trash containers will be available to businesses in Newport who have a quantity of trash but do not have a dumpster. KCCB volunteer David Veridal says Cocke County Emergency Mangement Director Kevin Benton had the opportunity to obtain the containers with lids at a minimal cost. The receptacles are designed to be handled by the city's garbage truck, and so the current supply of containers will go to businesses in the city. Those with a beautification nomination or a city business interested in the larger trash container should contact KCCB at 423-623-1050 or through the organizations Facebook page.
