Cocke County Jail assaults
A total of three Cocke County Jail inmates face assault charges in connection with two recent assault incidents in the facility. Newport patrol Officer Joshua Bigus said Corrections Officer Sgt. Zachary Magouirk reviewed video surveillance on Monday and observed Hank Aaron Belcher, 23, Lennon Circle, Newport, pulling inmate Anthony Brotherton from a top bunk, and then punching him on the face several times. . The injured inmate was transported to the Newport Medical Center where it was determined that his elbow had been dislocated as a result of the fall from the bunk. As a result, Belcher faces an Assault charge. Cocke County deputy Joey Owings, this morning viewed jail surveillance and observed Belcher and Kelvin Corley, 26, Cosby Highway, Cosby assault inmate Thomas Edwards of Hartford. Both now face Assault charges in the incident.
