Lawson arrest in shooting Cocke County Deputy Lt. Chris Gregg says he jailed a Greeneville man Saturday evening following a reported shooting incident near the Greene/Cocke County line. Upon arrival, Jabob Bledson, 18, Chucky, had already been transported by paramedics for treatment of a gunshot wound to the back. Occupants of the vehicle, Adonte Lawson, 19, Horton Highway, Greeneville, and a 14 year-old Mosheim female, told investigators that they had stopped on Long Creek Road to use the bathroom, when a vehicle stopped and shot Bledson in the back. Deputy Lt. Chris Gregg said a search of the area after the 9:53 pm incident, revealed a 9mm handgun in a cooler along with Codeine, Alprazolam, and scales. The investigation revealed that Lawson had tried to hide the cooler. The officer said Lawson later admitted he had been going through a bag when the 9mm handgun accidentally discharged, striking Bledson in the back. Lawson admitted he had been smoking marijuana, had a strong odor of marijuana on his person and also was found to have 28 grams of marijuana on his person. The handgun involved in the shooting had a serial number which had been filed off. Now Lawson is charged with Aggravated Reckless Assault, Alteration of a Firearm number, Possession of a Handgun During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Possession of Codeine, Alprazolam and Marijuana, Tampering with Evidence, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
