Paramedics attacked
Cocke County investigators have released information regarding a May 15 assault of a First Call EMS paramedic and the theft of a First Call radio. Deputy Lt. Chris Gregg said he responded to the Deerfoot Road, Cosby home of Angela Sutton at 10:20 pm. Paramedics James Roach and Robert Carroll Reed said Reed began assessing the 35 year-old Sutton when she became combative. Then Sutton's husband, Tommy Haskell Hale, 63, Sycamore Way, Newport came into the room, jumped onto the back of Paramedic Reed and began punching him on the head. Paramedic James Roach removed Hale from Reed. As the paramedics left the home to await assistance from law enforcement, Hale again attempted to choke Reed, and was taken to the ground. And outside Ms. Sutton again jumped onto the back of Paramedic Reed. and as the paramedics fled to await law enforcement, Hale allegedly beat on the ambulance threatening to kill the paramedics. Lt. Gregg recovered the stolen radio, and now both Sutton and Hale are charged with Assault and at the jail, Ms. Sutton also was charged with Possession of Marijuana.
