Gasoline theft incident
Newport authorities say they are investigating a recent incident involving the theft of gasoline from a vehicle parked at Walmart. David Melvin and Kasey Dixon, Young Blood Way, Cosby, say they left the local store to find a couple stealing gas from their car. They tried to stop the suspects who were driving a silver Subaru Forrester, but Melvin says they were thrown off as the Subaru sped away. The victims then discovered the fuel line on their vehicle had been cut. Newport Patrol Officer Brandon Cassidy says the Subaru was found later wrecked on the Bogard Road. A witness saw a white male walking away from the crash site. Melvin describes the suspects as a middle-aged white male, six feet tall and heavy set. The white female is described as obese with dirty blond hair and wearing a brown tank top.
