Newport street work
Newport Utilities Water Works Manager Clint Hammonds reports that crews finished asphalting the area being worked on Tuesday, on East Broadway. Today the work site is being moved and the work area will be fenced off from Newport Hardware to the McMahan Avenue intersection. In order to minimize the business impact, the McMahan Avenue intersection will remain open until Friday evening. Work in the intersection itself will be conducted on Saturday and Sunday. Weather permitting, fill and paving in the intersection are planned for Monday and Tuesday of next week On Wednesday June 20th, McMahan Avenue will be back open to traffic, and then work will begin on East Broadway from Jefferson Avenue toward the Cosby Highway. Newport Utilities reminds everyone that business access continues to remain open. Says Hammonds, "Please support our local businesses.
