NU Fiber advances
Newport Utilities and it's construction partner, AEG, have increased the number of fiber construction teams to accelerate fiber deployment. Crews are currently working in the neighborhoods near the West End area Substation and in the city limits of Newport. Public Relations Manager Sharon Kyser says the new fiber will be located in the public street right-of-way or utility easement adjacent to the public streets. Residents may see construction workers in the backyard easements as they pull fiber through the neighborhoods. Residents who have questions should contact Newport Utilities at (423) 625-2800.
