Boyarski injury
A Kentucky man was injured Thursday when he was struck by a car in the parking lot of Exxon Zoomers on the Cosby Road in Newport. Newport Patrol Officer Joshyua Shults identified the injured pedestrian as 66 year-old Phillip Boyarski of Paducah. The officer said the 12:30 pm incident occurred as Boyarski walked through the parking lot and was hit by Jennifer Lynn Simms, 45, Wilton Springs Road, Newport. Ms. Simms said she didn't see Boyarski as she backed up. Officer Shults said the injured Boyarski was unconscious when he arrived on the scene, but he later regained consciousness. He sustained a head abrasion and other head injuries, as well as an injury to his knee. Boyarski was taken by First Call EMS to the Newport Medical Center for treatment. Ms. Simms was cited into court for Failure to Exercise Due Care.
