Finance committee lacks quorum
The Cocke County Finance Committee was scheduled to meet Monday evening but because only two of the committee members were in attendance the committee did not conduct business. Chair Robert Green and Commissioner Cindy Holt were in attendance to discuss a resolution laying out a Jail Capital Projects Resolution. The new county budget includes two cents on the tax rate, or about $112,000 for a new jail. The resolution will set out how the money will be used, including any restrictions. Some members of the Finance Committee had earlier said they want the money to be used only for construction, not engineering, land costs or land preparation. The full legislative body will meet Monday evening and is expected to consider such a resolution. Commissioner Love Henderson who did not seek re-election is expected to address the commission. Deputy Sergeant Hollis Emmons has been recommended to replace Andy Tritt on the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office Work Release Board. And the body is expected to approve the reappointment of Phil Morgan, Jr. and Lee Willis to the Cocke County Regional Planning Commission for four-year terms.
