Greene County fire fatalities
Two children died in an early Sunday morning house fire in Greene County, according to Mosheim Volunteer Fire Department Chief Harold Williamson. Both were inside a mobile home on Pruitt Road North, just off the Blue Springs Parkway, when the fire broke out around 5AM. Greene County Sheriff Wesley Holt said the children as Jace Long, 6, and Joshua Long, 4. According to Chief Williamson, the mother and step-father were able to make it out of the home and were not injured. A neighbor said the step-father tried to go back in to save the boys. "He tried to get to them and couldn't do it. Tried again, tried about three times he told me, and just couldn't get to them. He couldn't get through the blaze in between the kitchen and the bedroom," the neighbor said. The state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
