Two motorcyclists were injured in a Saturday collision on the Cosby Road at Epley Road in Newport. Newport Patrol Officer Michael Robey said the 3:19 pm incident occurred as Tracy Ann Worex, 56, Crawley Road, Newport, pulled from Epley Road into the path of the cyclists who were traveling on the Cosby Road. Both Randy Elser, 41, Madisonville, TN. and Johnnie Hill, 42, Sweetwater, TN. were taken by First Call EMS to the Newport Medical Center. Hill later was flown to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville. Officer Robey said according to witnesses, the cycles had the right of way. Worex had a strong odor of alcohol on her person and registered .22 on the intoximeter. As a result she was placed in the Cocke County Jail on a DUI charge.
