Early voting begins
Early Voting for the General Election begins Wednesday, at the Cocke County Election Commission office in the Courthouse Annex in Newport. Early Voting hours are weekdays 8:30 am through 5:00 pm and Saturdays 8:30 am though 12 Noon. Early Voting is available through Thursday, November 1, with special hours on the last day 8:30 am through 6:00 pm Josh Blanchard, Cocke County Administrator of Elections, says any Cocke County registered voter may participate in Early Voting. Voters must bring a photo ID issued by Tennessee or the federal government. Out-of-state driver licenses cannot be accepted. Registered voters are not required to bring their voter registration cards. The sample ballot is available online at CockeCountyElection.org and at the election commission office. Included in the election are races for Governor, United States Senate, United States House of Representatives, Tennessee Senate, and Tennessee House of Representatives. City of Newport voters vote for Mayor, five Alderman, and three uncontested School Board seats. Town of Parrottsville voters will vote for up to three candidates for Town Commission.
