Tennessee ranks poorly on home energy efficiency
As TVA cuts back on efforts to encourage energy efficiency, Wallet Hub says the Volunteer State is not doing well in reducing energy consumption. This is National Energy Awareness Month and the U.S. Department of Energy estimates that families could save up to 25% on their utility bill if the instituted energy efficient measures. The personal-finance website WalletHub has released its report on the Most & Least Energy-Efficient States. The average American household spends at least $2,000 per year on utilities and another $1,968 on motor fuel and oil. So WalletHub compared the auto- and home-energy efficiency in 48 U.S. States , excluding Alaska and Hawaii. According to the survey, Tennessee ranks 46th in the country in Home Energy Efficiency, 20th in Vehicle-Fuel Efficiency and 35th in Transportation Efficiency.
