Ford home destroyed by fire
A large log home on Cricket Mountain Way in the Cosby community of Cocke County was destroyed by fire Sunday morning. Cocke County firefighters say they responded to the Robert Ford home at 7:30 am, to find the home heavily involved in flames. Ford and his family had escaped the structure. Mr. Ford told firefighters that he awoke to the smell of smoke and then saw flames outside near an air conditioning unit. He was able to awaken the other occupants of the home and flee the fire. Cosby Volunteer firefighters also assisted in controlling the flames. They turned off the propane gas from a tank that was adjacent to the home. In addition to the home and it's basic contents, Firemen says an all-terrain vehicle, two motorcycles, a car and a truck were lost to the flames. The total loss in the blaze is placed at $500,000.
