King arrest
A Newport man being sought on attempted murder charges was taken into custody on Tuesday. Earnest Ray King, 38, was arrested by Newport Patrol Officer Mike Robey. On November 26, Newport officers responded to a Tabor Street home to find a resident, George Millington, 41, with a stab wound to the side, and with blood around his neck and head. Heather Hall told police that King walked into the home and yelled at both she and Millington. Hall said she and King at one time had been involved in a relationship. When King attacked Millington, the victim reportedly fought back and at that time King pulled out a knife and stabbed Millington. King then fled the scene on foot. Millington was flown to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville for treatment. On Tuesday, King was found in an abandoned home on Red Oak Street, by Officer Robey. He had allegedly broken into the abandoned home without the permission of the owner. He was found hiding in the attic and was taken into custody on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Especially Aggravated Burglary. His bond is set at $50,000.
