Christmas parade winners The Newport Christmas Parade included nearly 100 entries on Saturday, as it moved through downtown Newport on Broadway. It was sponsored by the Newport/Cocke County Partnership Chamber of Commerce. Partnership Tourism Director Linda Lewanski said the First Place award for the best float went to Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, Second Place to Memorial Baptist Church and Third Place to Commercial Truck Center. Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice received the Mayor's Choice Award, and the Best Non-Profit Award went to Unify Cocke County/Save the Children. Lewanski said several of the entries including the Sevier County Antique and Engine Club and Knuckleheads, each had several vehicles in the parade. Mark Ramsey and Eric Manes of the "Moonshiners" served as Grand Marshals for the event.
