Douglas Lake drowning
The body of a missing fisherman was recovered Thursday from Douglas Lake at the Dandridge Access Area in Jefferson Co. TWRA spokesperson Matthew Cameron said his agency received a call at approximately 1:30 pm Thursday that a boat was adrift and a fisherman was missing near the boat ramp. Indications are that the victim was either launching or retrieving his boat as his truck was backed down the ramp with the trailer in the water and the boat adrift nearby. A TWRA boating investigator located the victim about 80 feet from the shoreline in ten feet of water by use of a Remote Operated Vehicle. Members of the Jefferson County Rescue Squad recovered the body at approximately 3:37 p.m. The victim’s identity will be released following the notification of family members.
