Hance pursuit
A Cocke County man is in custody following a pursuit by Newport police Sunday night. Patrol Officer Joshyua Shults said he spotted Steven Floyd Hance, 47, Epley Road, Newport, driving on the Cosby Highway with no headlights. When an attempt was made to stop Hance, he fled at a high rate of speed, swerving from lane to lane and then running through a stop sign on Heritage Boulevard. The subject was pursued onto Morrell Springs Road, then the Golf Course Raod and Better Road, tearing up a lawn before finally stopping on Golf Course Raod. At that point, Hance surrendered to police. The subject was jailed on charges of reckless endangerment, reckless driving, fleeing to evade arrest, driving on a revoked license, violation of the light law and having a stolen license on his black Chevrolet pickup.
