Cocke home destroyed by fire
Firefighters with the Cocke County Fire Department and Parrottsville Volunteer Fire Department on Friday morning responded to a home fire on Northview Road, off Woodson Road. Firefighter Tracy Short said his agency was alerted of the fire in the Sadie Valentine residence at 1:54am. Two other persons also lived in the residence, but no injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze in the two-story cinder block home, has not been determined. Firefighters believe the blaze started in a bedroom and Valentine said there was a heater in the room which may have been the origin of the fire. Firefighters fought the blaze for four hours and estimate the loss totals $70,000.
