Fine arrest A Cocke County man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a pursuit by Newport Sgt. Derek Wright on December 29. Clifford Fine III, 25, Dark Hollow Road, Cosby, faces charges of reckless endangerment, kidnapping, second offense driving on a revoked license, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, reckless driving and theft over $1,000, and other driving offenses. Fine was stopped on Blazer Street in Newport by Sgt. Derek Wright. As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver sped away at a high rate of speed onto Musterfield Road and Warford Road, onto North Highway 321, then north on Highway 160 before turning onto Red Hill Road. A short time later Deputy Lt. Michael Whitmer found Savannah Teague walking along Red Hill Road. She reported she was a passenger in the vehicle during the pursuit. Teague said she had asked Fine to stop several times during the chase, but she was unable to leave the auto. The suspect vehicle was found at a residence on Red Hill Road, but Teague said Fine and another female passenger, Pebbles Garner, had walked away. Teague said at the speed Fine was traveling, she believed the occupants were in danger of being injured. The theft charge stems from the theft of a vehicle owned by Michael Harmon.
