Jefferson County murder/suicide update
Jefferson County authorities are continuing their investigation into a Tuesday afternoon shooting that left two people dead. Sheriff Jeff Coffey said his officers responded to a residence on Oak Grove Road outside of Dandridge at about 1:30 pm following a reported domestic situation. "When the first officer arrived on the scene, a child came running from the front door of the residence and a male was standing in the doorway. The male made a statement that someone was going to get shot," the sheriff said. The officer grabbed the child and took him to safety until other responding deputies arrived. A perimeter was set up around the residence, and numerous unsuccessful attempts were made to make contact with the occupants of the home. Later the Special Response Team from the Jefferson City Police Department responded to the scene, and at 4:40 pm made entry to the home "where they found two deceased persons inside." Late this afternoon, Sheriff Coffey said nvestigators with the Criminal Investigation Division have finished the preliminary investigation into the events that occurred Tuesday. The investigation revealed that Juan Lopez Pineda, 46 was the male subject observed at the front door when deputies arrived. He also stated that he had “shot his wife” before closing the door. Investigators found Pineda and his wife Lenor Vazquez Silva age 39 located inside the home deceased. The investigation also revealed Juan Lopez Pineda had shot his wife (Silva) before taking his own life. The investigation is continuing into this event. "Please keep these families in your prayers in the coming days," the sheriff said.
