Herr Arrest
A Newport woman has been charged with maintaining a disorderly house following a recent incident. Newport Patrol Officer Jordan Douglas said he was patroling Lincoln Avenue and numbered streets in the area on Tuesday when he observed a female run into a residence on Eighth Street. The officer says he knew the home "to be a location where drug sales were made and where wanted persons were usually found." The occupant of the home, Holly Herr, 62, came outside to meet the officer, displaying a belligerent attitude. She said no one had gone into the home. But officers heard persons in the home, and Rachael Treece, 36, Eagle Nest Road, Cosby, was found in a rear bedroom hiding under a mattress. Treece who was wanted on a charge of failure to appear for a court hearing was the individual seen running into the home. Police administration personnel determined that 26 dispatch calls had been made to the address over the past 28 months, most involving wanted persons, drugs and assault related arrests. So because of that information and the arrest of Treece, Herr was charged with the "disorderly house" offense.
