Tax Day is coming
With the tax deadline for most Americans fast approaching and low- and middle-income families expected to pay higher tax rates than the rich, the personal-finance website WalletHub has released its report on the  Best States to Be Rich or Poor from a Tax Perspective.    In order to identify the states where people in different income brackets spend the most and least on taxes, WalletHub calculated the share of one’s income that he or she contributes toward sales and excise taxes, property taxes and income taxes.    Because Tennessee has no state income tax, most of it's revenue comes from the sales tax.    WalletHub found that in the Volunteer State, high income earners pay 5.11 percent of their income in taxes, middle income earners pay 8.09 percent in taxes and low income earners pay 9.45 percent of their income in taxes.    The Volunteer State also ranks 14th. in the country in it's average property tax rate, and ranks 3rd. as nearly the lowest state in the country, in total tax burden. It also ranks 6th, in state and local tax rates. The average person spends 11 hours and $200 completing his or her 1040, and average refund in 2019 is $2,957.
