Wednesday crash
Westbound traffic on Interstate 40 at the 445 milemarker(Bluffton Curve) in Cocke County was partially blocked for some time Wednesday morning. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says Gabriel Whitmore, 45, Bakersville, NC was rounding the curve at 7:45 am with a load of baled cardboard. “The load shifted and caused the semitrailer to overturn onto its left side and slide against the barrier wall. This caused the truck tractor to also overturn onto its left side,” according to the officer. Whitmore was not injured however a quantity of diesel fuel spilled from the overturned truck and traffic was slowed for some time.
