Shaub incident
Cocke County authorities are looking for a suspect in a Thursday incident in which a woman says her ear was bitten off by her brother. Rachael Anne Shaub told Deputy Ethan Keys that her brother Philip Shaub, 32, attacked her at the home they share on McGaha Chapel Road in Cosby. Ms. Shaub said her brother had been cursing her and then threatened to kill her before she attempted to call 911. The victim says her brother grabbed her phone and took it from her before being hit on the face, pulled her hair, and her ear was bitten off. Philip Shaub also allegedly jerked the head of his 38 year-old sister "in an attempt to break her neck." Ms. Shaub said she was afraid her brother would kill her. Officer Keys says he found a piece of the victim's ear lying on the front porch of the home. First Call EMS transported Rachael Shaub to the Newport Medical Center for treatment. Philip Shaub fled the scene before officers arrived and now is being sought on a charge of aggravated domestic assault.
