Rockslide east of the NC/Tennessee state line
A rockslide on Interstate 40 at mile marker 7 in North Carolina has shut down the westbound lanes. NC Department of Transportation reported on social media that the slide occurred around 1:20 this afternoon. NCDOT spokesman David Uchiyama said there are several boulders near the road and the closure is necessary for safety purposes. At least one lane of the road should be reopened by early evening.
