Celebrating Cosby
The lineup has been released for this summers Celebrating Cosby programs in the Cosby Campground (471 Cosby Park Rd., Cosby, TN 37722) of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Cocke County Partnership Director of Tourist Development Linda Lewanski said the programs are planned for each Friday evening beginning June 14 at 7 p.m. The programs will be offered, rain or shine in the Picnic Pavilion or the Amphitheater. The programs are being presented by the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in partnership with Cocke County Partnership Department of Tourist Development The tentative line-up of programs is; June 14-Mountain Edge Band which plays Bluegrass and whose members are Judge Carter Moore, Andy Williams, Jamie Clark, Limmie Workman) June 21st-Moonshiners from the Discovery Channel TV series; Mark Ramsey, Eric "Digger" Manes and Kelly Williamson. June 28th- Children of Cosby Yesterday and Today: A Visit To Mountain Rest School, Small Mammals in the Park, and Hands-on Science in Cosby Creek. July 5th-Ella V. Costner AND a Presentation of Quilts of Valor to US Veterans July 12th-A Walk Down Memory Lane with Imogene Wilson and Olie Williamson - A look back at Cosby by former residents prior to the establishment of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. July 19th-Eastern Band of Cherokee featuring storytelling, dance, and music. July 26th-An Evening of Artifacts with Park Archaeologist Allison Harvey, including hunting/firearms, spinning wheel, lye soap/caldron, including a visit to a historic car and park archives with NPS Staff. August 2nd- Bluegrass music by Richard Bennett who played with the legendary Bill Monroe. For more information contact Tourism Director Linda Lewanski at 423-625-9675.
