GSMNP body identified
Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials have confirmed the identity of the deceased male found in the park on July 8 as David J. Carver, 64, of Blount County. Carver was found in an off-trail area near Laurel Creek Road between Townsend and Cades Cove . The Knox Country Regional Forensic Center positively identified Carver through a comparison of medical records. The cause of death and activity at time of death are under investigation, and an autopsy is being performed.
